The Glebe House London is a Grade II Listed converted Georgian Coach house dating from 1825.
Owned and managed by Alix Bateman, an antiques dealer, decorative artist, interiors writer, and occasional gilder.
The living room was a passageway through which horse and carriages once travelled into stable yards beyond. It is on the site of the original Manor House of Clapham, and there has been a church on the plot next door overlooking the Thames since as early as the 12th century.
You are welcome in the church grounds anytime, where it's said that members of Oliver Cromwell's army are buried. Community gardens and allotments run either side of the church, and there are raised flower beds, a nature pond, bee hives, children's play area and fabulous views of Battersea Power Station. Having taken a break during Covid, our relaunch event took place in December 2024 with A Winter Gathering,
Including a curated selection of contemporary craft and art, antique objects and ephemera.
Click HERE to watch a sweet little film on our instagram of the relaunch, created by one of the participating artists, Christoper Gee.
And below a film by Mark Bader (with some tinkly music)
showing much of what Glebe has to offer!
(featuring several friends of Glebe, including The Disappearing Dining Club,
Iulia Filipovscaia, Libidex, Hugo and Ursula, and Joseph Murphy Woodcarving)
